Re-Setting Standards
Climbing is an ever-evolving sport that should now embrace a global community of individuals across all genders, heights, and cultures.
However, routes still frequently fail to account for height accessibility — particularly disadvantaging shorter climbers, especially when set by taller route-setters and head setters (a common industry bias).
This website aims to address a critical gap in global awareness regarding the heightened (no pun intended) risk, danger, unique technique, and strength required for shorter climbers.
Quick tips:
1. Add an average height woman to the setting team
2. Add more feet to make climbs accessible
3. Measure static moves for climbers at the average female height
4. Setting team composition, heights and spans should be public for accountability (no more 'we have a short setter' referring to a 5'8" (173cm) man!)
